The secret to making interviews authentic

There’s a question we often hear on video production

“How can we make interviews feel more natural?”

Even when the lighting, camera work, and composition are perfect, sometimes the “heart” of the conversation doesn’t come through.

Most of the time, that’s because it’s become a “question” rather than a “conversation.” Especially for corporate video production.

1. Listening over asking questions

When we conduct interviews, we focus on creating a real dialogue with the interviewee —

not just having them talk to the camera.

We carefully set the atmosphere so that the person can forget about the camera

and speak naturally, as they would in a genuine conversation.

While we prepare questions in advance, during the actual interview

we ask them flexibly, following the flow of conversation.

If silence falls, we don’t rush to fill it. We wait.

And often, in those quiet moments, an honest truth slips out.

That single word — that moment — is the truth that breathes life into the footage.

2. Valuing “their own words” over a prepared script

In corporate or organizational interviews, people often prepare what they’ll say beforehand.

But we believe that a person’s own words carry much more power than any “perfectly written” line.

Within the pauses — the hesitations and the search for words —

we can feel the person’s genuine emotion and warmth.

Those subtle fluctuations in speech are what make the words real

and what truly move the audience.

3. Never forget there’s a “person” behind the camera

The biggest secret to a successful interview is for the person filming

to also be present as a person.

When the crew opens their hearts, the interviewee naturally does the same.

Beyond the lens is not just a subject — it’s another human being.

Keeping that awareness brings a quiet warmth into every frame.

4. Genuine words reach the viewer’s heart

A single honest word can resonate far more deeply than any polished message.

This is the power of speaking truthfully, not just beautifully.

At Eiwa Media, our goal is to convey the very essence of a person’s voice through film —

to capture what is real, not rehearsed.

Authenticity can’t be created through direction.

It’s something that grows from trust —a trust born between people.

That’s why, every time we stand behind the camera, we ask ourselves:

“Are we creating a space where this person can truly feel safe and open their heart?”

That, to us, is what makes an interview genuine.

For us, filmmaking isn’t just about shooting.

It’s about sharing emotions, building stories together, and creating connection.

Whether it’s music, art, or brand,

we help bring your true voice to the world.

Tell us about your vision — we’d love to hear your story.

CMCJ (Classical Music Collection Japan)

The beauty of classical music and the elegance of Japanese culture —

CMCJ has combined these two elements to create an unprecedented “cultural collision.”

Eiwa Media joined the project from the early stages of branding,

working closely to explore how to express the brand’s tone through moving images.

For this international video production we focused on the unspoken emotions that words alone can’t convey —

the breath of the performers, the fleeting moment when sound melts into space.

The result is footage where classical grandeur meets Japanese stillness,

allowing viewers to feel both the afterglow of sound and the depth of culture.

What emerged was a “visual melody” —

a harmony between tradition and innovation,

a new form of classical expression that stays true to Japan’s spirit while resonating with the world.
